Husband and wife team set up practice in Knoxville to aid struggling couples

Knoxville Times 15-09-2010

Husband and wife team, Dean and Dana Vince, have launched a counseling practice in Knoxville, Tennessee to help couples struggling with money and their marriage.

The duo's practice is a combination of marriage counseling and financial coaching. With money being the number one issue of divorce, and divorce happening at a staggering rate of 60%, the service is aimed at couples who are struggling and don't know where to go for help.

Many couples fight about money because they have different ideas of how it should be spent, or saved, who makes it and who should get to decide what to spend it on, who pays the bills and whether they are paid on time. Many couples avoid talking about money because it is such a stressful issue, but then the problem mounts. It becomes a vicious cycle. Some couples hide money from one another, or become deceitful about spending to avoid the fights that come from money. These issues occur regardless of income or level of intelligence.

Because money is a major source of discord in marriage, Dana and Dean say they have come together to provide couples the tools necessary to navigate this difficult area of marriage.

"Couples need someone who listens and can understand what they are going through, but they also need someone who can provide tools and guidance along the way, we offer both", says Licensed Professional Counselor, Dana Vince. "It's sad to see so many families come apart due to issues around money when if a couple receives the right help, they can learn the skills and tools necessary to make their marriage work", said Dean Vince, Financial Coach.

Dana is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in Marriage Counseling. Dana has been in the counseling field for 10 years and started a private practice helping couples and families over 3 years ago. Her practice began in Wesley Chapel, Florida. She has now brought her family, and her practice to Knoxville, Tennessee. More information about Dana can be found at www.healingheartscounseling.org

Dana says, "This work is important to me because I have seen in my own life how much people struggle with relationships. I have seen how people who start out loving each other, end up hurting each other. So it has become my life’s work to help couples and families learn to communicate in ways that nurture one another and form deeper bonds in their relationships."

For the first time her husband, Dean Vince, will be joining her in her work. Dean Vince, a former Real Estate Appraiser, recently attended Dave Ramsey's training to become a financial coach. With a love of numbers, and a desire to help people, it was the perfect fit. Dean embraces Dave Ramsey's philosophy regarding family and finances and uses the tools he learned to help couples get out of debt, manage their budget and build wealth. More information about Dean can be found at www.moneymatterscounseling.com

Dean says, "I feel my insight into common sense financial principles applied to everyday life can be extremely beneficial to those willing to apply themselves. My wife and I are passionate about our own family and our work, and I am excited to be joining efforts to help other couples."

Couples who make an appointment at Dana and Dean's practice can expect the following:

Counseling on how to communicate around money

A detailed plan for getting out of debt

A detailed budget analysis and recommendations

Negotiated agreements and expectations for bill paying, saving, spending, future short and long term goals

The skills to discuss money with one another without fighting about it

A plan for going forward

The practice is located at 123 Center Park Drive Suite 228 Knoxville, Tennessee. It is in the West Knoxville area of Tennessee and is open to residents of Farragut, Oak Ridge, Maryville, Lenoir City, and surrounding areas.
